1. What is the June 2025  IBI Academy & CBEN Conference  Program?

The program is organized as two events:  a 5-day IBI Biochar Academy focused on biochar business development with the 4th and 5th days programmed as a CBEN Conference focused on the agronomic application of nutrient and carbon recovery systems. The IBI Academy curriculum includes all 5 days of programming.

2. When and where will the 2025  IBI Academy & CBEN Conference be?

​ The event will be held from 2nd-6th June 2025 at Sunstar Hotel in Thika, Kiambu County, Kenya.

3.  What are the objectives of the event?​

Attendees can expect to develop knowledge and skills in biochar business development, build community across the biochar and nutrient recovery industry, identify common regional challenges, advocate and educate about biochar, and connect with representatives within project finance, standardization, and research.

4.  Are there related costs to attending this event?

​

 Yes  the charges related to this event are as follows:

• The 2-day CBEN Conference Only = 3000Ksh registration fee (covers logistics and meals). Does not include accommodation cost. Scholarships will be available, please indicate your need in the separate form. 

• The 3-day IBI Biochar Academy and CBEN Conference = $700USD.  Includes room, meals, and logistic fees for all 5 days (IBI and CBEN programming). It does not include travel and other personal expenses.

5.  Can participants choose which parts of the event to attend?

Yes, participants can attend the entire 5-day event (both the Biochar Academy and CBEN conference) or choose to attend only one of the components: either the 3-day Biochar Academy(CBEN/IBI Registration Form ) or the 2-day CBEN conference( CBEN Conference only Registration )

 

6. Who should attend this event?

The event is designed for large international stakeholders, smallholder farmers, project developers, biochar producers, carbon professionals, and various biochar and organic fertilizer industry professionals.

7. What qualifies one after selection to attend the academy?

All selected individuals will have to undergo a free Online IBI Training to competition to increase their chances of participating in the event

8.  How can I  register to attend the academy or get more information?

Interested individuals are encouraged to share their contact details through the Registration Form provided on the event page.

9. What happens when i cannot pay for my participation for the event 

Scholarships will be available. If you need a scholarship you can indicate in the Registration Form.   We’re actively searching for scholarships and will aim to match as many participants with funds as possible. We will have travel scholarships available as well. If selected to receive a scholarship, you’ll receive a questionnaire about your need. This provision is only limited to the 30 slots available for selection.
